DAVAO CITY ― The City Government of Davao, spearheaded by Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, in cooperation with the Sports Development Division of the City Mayor’s Office (SDD-CMO) hosted this year’s Presentation of Awards to the Athletes and Coaches for the Philippine National Games and Palarong Pambansa 2018 during the Davao City Athletes and Coaches’ Recognition (2018) held at The Royal Mandaya Hotel Ballroom, Thursday, August 23, 2018.

Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, in her opening message, highlighted the importance of sports as the training ground for athletes to develop their skills, maximize their potential, and to craft up and intensify their personal goals for the highly-envisioned trail to success. “Enjoy your youth, enjoy your sports discipline, and always thrive to pursuit happiness,” Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said in her speech.

“Swimming is amazing. And always remember that the desire for success is greater than the fear of failure,” Juliana Marien E. Villanueva, champion for the Palarong Pambansa swimming event, remarked.

“I am grateful for the experiences, the learnings I have in Sports; the discipline I need in sports is similar with the discipline I keep in life,” Delmar B. Gato of Sto. Niño National High School, one of the Palarong Pambansa champions, articulated as well.
