| Doña Carmen takes chess lead |

THE power duo of Austin Jac ob Literatus and John Ray Batucan gave
Doña Carmen Denia National High School (DCDNHS) a commanding lead after
four rounds in the secondary boys division of the 1st JVR Inter-School
Invitational Chess Team Championships at the Emcor conference room over
the weekend.
DCDNHS stayed unbeaten with a total of eight points while the University of Mindanao (UM) pair of Alvin Acas and Denzel Amar placed second with six points. Unheralded Our Lady of Fatima Academy (OLFA) is at third spot with five points. In the elementary boys category, Eric Yngayo and Matthew Kyle Tiamson of Don Juan dela Cruz Central Elementary School (DJDCCES) shared the lead with fellow six-pointers JMC and Do¤a Pilar Learning Center (DPLC). The DJDCCES team of Irish and Lorraine Yngayo, however, led the elementary girls event by earning 7.5 points while DPLC's Imarie Borrinaga and Kim Ann Martinez came second with 6.5 points. The University of Mindanao (UM) are also leading the women's division. The UM lady chessers garnered 10 points while JMC got eight points and Holy Cross of Davao College (HCDC) made 6.5 points. JMC and HCDC shared the lead in the men's side with identical 8.5 points, followed by UM (7.5) and Ateneo (4.5).
