Davao City division delegates earned the most number of spots for the national competition both in individual and team events of the recently concluded Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC) in Sto. Tomas, Davao del Norte on November 3-6, 2017.

Despite the two-week gap of the division elimination from the regional contest, delegates from both public and private schools of the division were able to earn the most coveted slots for the National Schools Press Conference (NSPC).

“I congratulate the school paper advisers and campus journalists for the efforts they have extended that resulted to the achievement of these awards. I hope that you will continue to work even harder to achieve the same results in the NSPC,” Dr. Rene P. Sultan, the division campus journalism coordinator expressed in an interview.

The delegation had emerging victories particularly in the team events for the secondary level where the Ateneo de Davao University campus journalists championed in scriptwriting and radio broadcasting English while team of the University of Immaculate Concepcion in collaborative desktop publishing Filipino was declared the champion. These awards earned team Davao City the championship in the team events category for the secondary level.

The elementary group also came out strong both in the English and Filipino medium after winning in almost all events thereby earning the championship trophies in the individual events category.

The team hopes to achieve the over-all championship as they put together their school publication which will be judged under the group events contest at the end of the month.

“It is the first time that our school will join the group contest where we hope that our school publication can compete with other equally strong contenders in the regional level contest,” school paper adviser Eden Manolid of Tacunan Elementary School said.

Team Davao City is aiming to contribute to the goal of maintaining or even exceeding the third top performing region status of region XI in the NSPC 2018 at Dumaguete City.
