Student's Summit for Peace 2011 PDF Print E-mail

The Desire to intensify the campaign for sustainable peace and development in the Mindanao created a new paradigm of peace linkage molded by two goverment agencies, the Department of Education through the Division of Davao City and the AFP through the 10th Infantry Division of Philippine Army.

Such linkage gave delivery to the STUDENT'S SUMMIT FOR PEACE 2011 conducted at the Boy Scout of the Philippines Camp, Brgy. Malagos, Baguio District, Davao City last March 31 - April 3, 2011 with the theme "Empowering Responsible Students as Agents of Peace and Development". True to its objectives, the students were empowered to become responsible agents of peace and development by cultivating in them Inner Peace through enhancing self-awareness, strengthening their faith, and celebrating their individual differences through creative presentation in sharing their prized talents and by building the culture of Peace as they commune with each other as responsible individuals who care for the environment and committed agents of peace in nation building. Most importantly, students were introduced to the wholesome image of AFP and PNP as they converge during the summit through Ate/Kuya blending.

The activity made a distinctive success as it was marked by the support of Davao City Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Helen D. Paguican, The Assistant Schools Division Superintendents Mrs. Maria Antonia P. Diaz and Dr. Inez Asuncion, Col. Lysander A. Suerte (Brigade Commander of the 103rd), some schoold heads and other officers of the Philippine Army and Philippine National Police, Representatives of the Alternative Forum and Research in Mindanao (AFRIM) and the Local Government of Davao. The Summit was made possible through the efforts of the Division Peace Ed Task Force under the leadership of Mrs. Eva Antipuesto.
